Credit Unions for Kids Celebrates International Credit Union Day
Thursday, October 18th is International Credit Union Day and Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) is deeply grateful to the credit union movement for the tremendous support they give to their local children’s hospitals. CU4Kids, an initiative of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, raises funds and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals across North America. In past 22 years CU4Kids has raised more than $170 million; over $11 million in 2017 alone!
Sarah Bang, Chairman of the Credit Unions for Kids National Advisory Board says, “Credit Unions for Kids is an initiative that makes sense for credit unions. The program uses national resources to help credit unions support their local communities, while at the same time, raising awareness of credit unions nationally. This kind of cooperation is the hallmark of the credit union movement. When credit unions work together, they do amazing things. Over the past two decades, credit unions have materially helped their local hospitals make great strides in childhood healthcare. And in doing so, they help local families stay out of medical debt – one of the leading causes of bankruptcy in the U.S. This success would not be possible without the cooperative spirit of the credit union movement; it deserves to be celebrated every day!”
With over 3,000 credit unions engaging in the CU4Kids program in some form, we know that credit unions are not just gold, they are platinum.
