Credit Unions for Kids Celebrates $250,000 Donation from Visa to Support Children’s Hospitals
Donation to Fund Multiple Events Across the U.S. to Benefit Children’s Health
Credit Unions for Kids is thrilled to announce a financial sponsorship from longtime partner, Visa, a world leader in digital payments. The $250,000 contribution will support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ efforts in hosting eight fundraising events, raising awareness and critical financial support for the treatment and care of children in local hospitals across the country.
“We are extremely grateful for Visa’s generous contribution,” said Kristen Schavemaker, Chief Programs and Foundations Officer at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Their partnership plays a crucial role in advancing our mission to provide the best possible care for children in need. These events will make a real difference in the lives of millions of children across the nation.”
The Credit Unions for Kids program is a national collaboration between credit unions and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals that raises funds to support pediatric healthcare services. And, in 2024 alone, credit unions raised more than $18.7 million for children’s hospitals, through Credit Unions for Kids.
“At Visa, we believe that partnership is a key component to achieving meaningful impact,” said Celeste Schwitters, Senior Vice President of Community Accounts at Visa. “Supporting Credit Union for Kids’ efforts is one step toward a future where children have unhindered access to the critical care they need to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.”
The impact of Credit Unions for Kids is made possible by dedicated partners, like Visa, who provide essential financial and other support to events and initiatives. These efforts are crucial in advancing life-saving treatments, research, medical equipment, and support programs for children battling serious illnesses and injuries – directly benefiting children and families in need. This support also helps member hospitals ensure that every child receives the necessary treatment, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
“Thank you, Visa, for stepping up to make a difference for kids and families in communties all over the country,” said John Bratsakis, President/CEO of MD|DC Credit Union Association and Chair of the CU4Kids Advisory Board. “And, for supporting the growth of credit unions’ philanthropic efforts.”
