Blizzards, Carnival Fun, and Community Spirit Make Miracle Treat Day a Sweet Success

From colorful carnival games to sweet, icy treats, USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital celebrated Miracle Treat Day with a blend of fun and purpose—all in support of the children and families we serve.

On July 31, Dairy Queen locations across Mobile and Baldwin counties donated $1 or more from every Blizzard Treat sold to benefit USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital, the region’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. This year’s event helped raise funds for a state-of-the-art Interventional Radiology Suite, which will allow for minimally invasive procedures that can shorten recovery times and improve outcomes for young patients.

“This isn’t just about ice cream—it’s about hope, healing, and the power of community.

In addition to the fundraiser at local Dairy Queen locations, the hospital hosted a carnival-themed celebration for patients and their families. Volunteers from Momentum Church brought carnival games, while New Horizons Credit Union—this year’s presenting sponsor—offered craft activities for children. Adding to the joy, Dairy Queen Saraland donated Blizzards for patients to enjoy, bringing smiles to faces throughout the hospital. Art Unbothered brought a sprinkle of magic to the event, providing character entertainment as a whimsical cotton candy fairy, delighting children and families alike.

For DeVyn, USA Health’s 2025 Children’s Miracle Network Champion from Saraland, the day was extra special. “It was very fun to get to see my church family,” she said. “I had a lot of fun with my church. I was very happy to let them help me with Miracle Treat Day—it made my heart feel happy and excited.”

As part of the festivities, staff embraced the “Sweetest Show on Earth” theme, dressing in carnival-inspired attire and encouraging each other to join in the fun. The Class Act Room and Teen Lounge were transformed into spaces of play, creativity, and laughter, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to creating positive experiences for pediatric patients.

Events like Miracle Treat Day are deeply connected to USA Health’s mission as the only academic health system on the upper Gulf Coast. Last year alone, nearly 20,000 children from Mobile County received care here, including more than 40,000 visits to the Pediatric Emergency Center—the only one of its kind in the region.

Every Blizzard purchased, every game played, and every smile shared brought us closer to making this life-changing project a reality.

We’re grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, staff, and the entire community for making this day such a sweet success.
