PSECU Raises Funds & Hosts Miracle Families at Baseball Games

PSECU continues its annual baseball-centered sponsorship of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals during the 2018 Minor League Baseball Season. Throughout the summer, PSECU will host Children’s Miracle Network families at nine games in Central and Southcentral Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley and raise funds for the cause.

Through the credit union’s unique sponsorship in conjunction with Minor League Baseball, Children’s Miracle Network families receive a full baseball experience, including complimentary entrance tickets and pre-game opportunities like stadium tours and participation in the game’s ceremonial first pitch. Additionally, commemorative jersey and memorabilia auctions at select games allow PSECU to donate more than $18,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network.

“At PSECU we often say we are ‘banking on a difference.’ This means we are dedicated to being much more than just a financial institution – we’re an active contributor to community betterment,” said PSECU President Greg Smith. “Following in the footsteps of our 22 founders who started the credit union nearly 85 years ago to help themselves and those around them, today we continually strive to not only meet our more than 430,000 members’ financial needs, but also help strengthen the communities we serve. To put it in baseball terms, we aim to be a power hitter in making Pennsylvania stronger, healthier, and more vibrant for everyone to enjoy.”

  • June 29: Harrisburg Senators, FNB Field, Harrisburg
  • July 1: York Revolution, PeoplesBank Park, York

More than 10 million kids enter a children’s hospital across North America every year. To provide the best care for kids, children’s hospitals rely on donations and community support, as Medicaid and insurance programs do not fully cover the cost of care. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has helped fill those funding gaps by raising more than $5 billion, most of it $1 at a time through Miracle Balloon icon campaigns. Its various fundraising partners and programs support the nonprofit’s mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible. “Since the inception of the Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) program over 20 years ago, the support of our credit union partners has been critical to the funding of life-saving research, expansion of facilities, and charity care, which assures all kids receive treatment regardless of a family’s ability to pay,” said John Lauck, President and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “By creating partnerships with Minor League Baseball, among countless other examples, credit unions like PSECU have proven to be innovative and dedicated to ensuring all kids have access to the best healthcare available.”

Held earlier this month, the second annual PSECU Chips In Golf Outing also raised money for Children’s Miracle Network. Through the event, $36,220 was raised in support of five Pennsylvania-based Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

“To be able to help out a worthy cause while at the same time enjoying a day at the field is a real homerun. We couldn’t be more pleased to continue this annual sponsorship initiative with Minor League Baseball,” Smith added. “Now, let’s play ball!”
