Miracle Jeans Day: Digitized

This year on Miracle Jeans Day – Wednesday, September 11, 2019* – credit unions have the opportunity to go digital by creating their own fundraising pages to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals. On Miracle Jeans Day, employees make a donation for the chance to wear casual clothing to work. Since its launch in 2009, Miracle Jeans Day has become a premiere CMN Hospitals fundraising event for the credit union industry, which raised over $400k last year.

Credit unions can create free customized digital fundraising pages by visiting Credit Unions for Kids’ (CU4Kids) Miracle Jeans Day site at www.cu4kids.org/miraclejeansday. Fundraising pages make it possible to receive digital donations, track fundraising progress and create embeddable “DONATE” buttons for use in emails and newsletters and on websites and social media.

Creating a fully customized page takes minutes with no coding necessary. Credit unions add their own branding elements and messaging; CU4Kids’ platform, powered by FrontStream, generates the page. Credit union employees and members can also create individual pages to raise funds from coworkers, family and friends. This allows for Miracle Jeans Day to be gamified, and we know that credit unions love to include a fun-hearted competition.

“CU4Kids’ new fundraising pages for Miracle Jeans Day are part of a larger effort this year to add digital tools to help credit unions amplify fundraising for their local CMN hospitals,” says Nick Coleman, Director of Strategic Partnerships at CMN Hospitals. “Digital fundraising has become a mainstay in the world of charitable giving. More and more consumers are comfortable donating on their mobile devices and even on social media channels. Credit unions can use fundraising pages to communicate to members outside the branch, create links for promotional posts on social media and in newsletters, and even add an element of friendly competition between employees, branches or departments. Digital experiences can make events like Miracle Jeans Day even more engaging and fun.”

“In Portland, Miracle Jeans Day is typically facilitated during Spirit Weeks- which is a week dedicated to cooperation, community impact, and fun. It has not only been a very popular way for credit unions to raise meaningful funds for the kids we support but also to positively engage their employees. Now that the program is digital and online, it will create more ease and fun for employees- and members- to participate,” says Erin Olinghouse, Assistant Director of Development at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
