Michigan Credit Unions + Kiki Challenge = Donations to Children’s Hospitals

Credit Unions in Michigan found a very unique and fun way to raise funds for their local children’s hospitals: the Keke Challenge.

The original Kiki Challenge is a dance that was created by Instagram Comedian, Shiggy, to the song ‘In My Feelings’ by Canadian artist, Drake. The challenge went viral, with celebrities like Will Smith, Ciara, and Odell Beckam Jr. dancing and posting it to their social media pages.

One Detroit Credit Union kickstarted an initiative by challenging Michigan Credit Union League and Affiliates (MCUL): for every credit union that completes the dance and shares it on social media, MCUL along with CU Solutions Group will make a $500 donation to one of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in the area. Funds are raised through CMN Hospitals’ Credit Unions for Kids program.

“Making our KekeChallenge a statewide initiative to benefit CMN Hospitals allowed us to bring a viral social trend to the credit union space in a meaningful way,” said Katlyn Lindstrom, MCUL’s web and social media specialist. “It’s been so much fun to see how each credit union brings their own personality and spin to their submission, and to have so many credit unions contribute additional matching dollars. We look forward to seeing the movement’s continued momentum into the next month.”

It’s not too late for credit unions to participate! MCUL is accepting videos until December 15th, 2018. However, only credit unions in Michigan are eligible.
