Hops for Hope to Benefit Doernbecher

Portland, Oregon—In the spirit of cooperation among cooperatives, the Young Credit Union Professionals of Oregon and SW Washington (YCUP) are teaming up with the Cascadia Chapter to host Hope for Hope, a fundraiser for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The event will feature a silent auction boasting baskets of local beer, cider, and gifts, while guests mingle, enjoying appetizers, drinks, and live music.

“The Cascadia Chapter is thrilled to be partnering with YCUP for this year’s Hops for Hope event,” said Sarah Buck, President of the Cascadia Chapter. “YCUP and the Chapter are represented by several passionate and dedicated professionals in the credit union movement, that when working together can undoubtedly make an unbelievable impact. Combine that passion and drive with a focus on Credit Union for Kids and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and the possibilities are endless,” said Buck.

This event is a special ‘first’ for partnership between YCUP and the newly minted Cascadia Chapter, created last year by the merging Mt. Hood and NW Chapters.

“As credit unions, we advance a stronger movement through cooperation. We know that using our shared strength will lead to a more successful fundraiser for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, a place close to all our hearts,” said Hayley Andrews, VP Communications for YCUP Oregon & SW Washington.

Excitement for the June 22nd event is growing with momentum, and the two groups hope to raise $10,000.

“Credit Unions for Kids raises meaningful funds for children’s hospitals across the United States, especially in the Portland Area where nearly $1million was raised for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in 2018,” added Nick Coleman, Director of Strategic Partnerships for CU4Kids. “Events like Hops for Hope allow us to continue funding life-saving equipment, research, and advanced care for millions of children each year. We are very grateful for young credit union professionals that champion our cause and support kids in need.”

Sponsorships for the event are currently available in tiers from $250 to $5,000 and offer numerous promotional opportunities. The associations’ joint planning committee is hoping for 100 ticket sales for the event.
