CU4Kids Champion, Mark Kelly, To Retire

Oklahoma’s Credit Union President/Chief Executive Officer Mark Kelly has announced plans to retire in April of 2021.

Kelly’s tenure spans more than four decades, first working as an assistant manager before moving to the role of President/Chief Executive Officer in 1981. Under his exceptional leadership, the credit union has experienced countless successes and achievements.

Perhaps his most meaningful work has been as a dedicated advocate and volunteer for Credit Unions for Kids through which he has helped raise millions in funds for children in need.

“Mark Kelly has been a tremendous advocate for the Credit Unions for Kids program. He led Oklahoma’s Credit Union to raise significant funds locally and been an ambassador nationally for the program. We will certainly miss Mark actively involved in the industry and program but wish him the best in his retirement,” says Nick Coleman, Director of Programs at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

His service goes beyond the credit union, serving the community in many roles. He has served on the Board of Directors for Credit Union Shared Branching for the last 26 years and is a founding members of the ATM Zone and First Rate Autos. His experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Credit Union League, Oklahoma State Credit Union and OCUPAC. He was also appointed to the Oklahoma Consumer Credit Commission and the Cornerstone Oklahoma Government Affairs sub-committee.

Kelly’s leadership is heralded throughout the credit union community, and in 2014, he was awarded the Cornerstone Credit Union League Professional of the Year.

“Mark has made an everlasting impact on this credit union and our community,” said Luann Schmiedel, OKCU Executive Vice President. “He has been a valued mentor for me and many others. It’s been an honor and a privilege to work with someone who cares about people as much as Mark.”
