CU4Kids Awareness Campaign

Credit Unions across America have raised over $185m for children’s hospitals through Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) in the past 23 years; $12.3m in 2018 alone! In an effort to promote the great impact that credit unions have on children’s hospitals in the United States, CU4Kids is launching an awareness campaign throughout Q4 2019. This campaign will be focused on four main components: PSAs, boosted social posts, localized impact reports, and Flat Champions.

PSAs. In 10 of the top supporting states, CU4Kids is recruiting local radio stations to play a spot that showcases the impact credit unions have on their communities. There is also a generic clip that can be shared with media partners in any market. Click here to hear the spot. The states that will have it pushed out nationally from the CU4Kids team is: Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, Washington D.C.

Boosted Social Media Posts. Credit Unions for Kids Facebook page will be putting money behind promoting Facebook posts in 15 of the top supporting states. It is the above states and including: Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. The posts will include the fundraising impact that credit unions across the country have and this incredible video of Mark, a patient at UNM Children’s Hospital. These posts will be boosted on Child Health Day (October 2nd) and International Credit Union Day (October 17th).

Local Impact Reports. Credit Unions for Kids offers a national fundraising report from the previous year, like this one. We will now be creating local impact reports so credit unions and the community understand how funds have impacted the hospital directly.

Flat Champions. Remember ‘Flat Stanley’ when you were a kid? You got to decorate a character and send him to friends/family to take photos and share stories of their lives with you. CU4Kids is now offering ‘Flat Champions’: credit unions receive a paper character of a patient child that was treated in their area. Click here to learn how to use the Flat Champion at your credit union.

With questions about any of these programs, please reach out to your local hospital representative or Nick Coleman (ncoleman@cmnhospitals.org), Director of Strategic Partnerships.

Thank you to the credit union industry for truly living out the motto of ‘people helping people.’
